Garage48 Open & Big Data 2016

Garage48 (https://www.garage48.org/) is an international series of weekend hackathons that aims to promote entrepreneurship and startup culture.

Garage48 Open & Big Data 2016 (https://www.garage48.org/events/openbigdata) took place in Tartu with STACC scientists Irene Teinemaa and Anna Leontjeva mentoring teams on data science and our CEO Kristjan Eljand advising on the business side.

STACC wishes to congratulate our current and former coworkers, all of whom had great projects.
Robert Roosalu was a machine learning expert of the winning team MARKUS. They developed a promising approach for automatic age verification using state-of-the-art hardware accelerated machine learning solutions.

Timo Petmanson, who has previously worked on our health data analysis pipeline, was a frontend developer for the runner-up team Siuts.

Uku Raudvere combined his natural charm with love for natural language processing as a backend developer at team BeerByddy, winning the Best Marketing Award.
